Living Water

Genesis 2:10 | John 15:5 | Psalm 1:1-3 | Matthew 7:17-19

The water is given, not earned. And this water will continue to flow… meaning it is not only for us when we need it most, but the substance of its function is to flow out from those who have received it. The gift of living water keeps on giving and the torrents of eternal love will continue to swell into redemptive storms of mercy—producing transformation.

Dry deserts will turn into gardens as the living water overflows from the life of those who have received its wonderful gift. The river of God flows from his creative heart, saturating the dry soil and watering the plants of the garden, so they can sustain life.

[Genesis 2:10, John 15:5, Pslam 1:1-3, Matthew 7:17-19]

We delight in who he is and what he has done, so we will continue to trust in what he will do. Even though it may seem that in this season evil has the upper hand… its fruit seems to be thriving and its crops are not laid to waste.

Even though the land of the wicked has its appeal… abundance and prosperity and security that abounds from its wells.

The day draws near where the well runs dry.

The drought is upon that land.

And all that was perceived as blessing—the destiny of that land to be fruitful and multiply—will really be revealed to be its downfall. Its wells have become its god and its people worship all that its land produces.

The people of this land may profess:

it is your land, it is my land;

it was made for you and me.

But perhaps they have not considered what will happen when the land runs dry.

When the water is no more.

Whose land, then, will it be?

For the drought will limit the amount of water left to be spared. You or I might remain, but eventually only one. And ultimately none. For when the water goes, life dries up with it. And there will be no remnant.

We must not trust in this land, for though it may have been faithful to us then, will it continue to be?

Does it make eternal promises to keep our lips wet?
